Is anyone able to shed any light on an issue we have with our PC. We brought a gaming pc for a Christmas present for my son and it has NVIDIA and it say there is no output, we plug in headphones or speakers into the green port at the back of the PC and it says no device is plugged in when it is. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, updating the drivers etc etc but nothing works. we are at a loss, I'd never come across NVIDIA before until we got this pc. The guy we brought the pc off isn't being very helpful so now we are stumped as to what to do. It's not very good to have a gaming pc with no sound at all. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

What is the brand and model of motherboard on that PC? I ask because most have Realtek audio chips, and the later two models of Realtek (ALC1150 and ALC1220), do not have their drivers listed on Realtek's site. You have to get them from the product page of the motherboard manufacturer.

Other than that, when using the audio ports on the back of the PC, you need to make sure Speakers are selected as default playback device in the Windows Sound panel. To check that it is, right click the audio icon on the lower right of the Tasbar, and click Playback devices.
