Increase bandwidth. I'm not too sure why it improves OC though.

Another way to increase OC is to flash the vidcard with some tools, changing the voltage. More voltage = higher clock speed. But if the flash goes wrong, your vidcard is screwed. You can't return it to original settings either.

Yeah, unlike overclocking theres a chance to return to orginal settings, but the other options is high rewards but very very risky for me that is since i barely know anything about overclocking. After im done clocking my Graphic card im going to clock my 3.2Ghz CPU and anything else clockable.

Most people will go do it regardless of the risk, thus there's so many threads on issues they overlooked.

Well some people aren't patient enough so they just raise the clock all the way up. Stupidity killed the cat.

were do you find the new firmware updates for the 8500gt? I ben lookin around cant seem to find them. I've had the card for about a year and i feel its time to get it all updated.

trihedral what is your fps in atitools now

ive got the leadtek winfast px8500gt

and i get 249 fps average in atitools

with

Core: 600 mhz

Shader: 1367 mhz

Memory: 510 mhz

I had a Palit sonic version and i got the clocks upto 720-710-1470. Worked great in Crysis at medium settings.
Didn't last very long tho (5 Months), the memory modules failed and i had to RMA. Got a new card and it wouldn't go past 650 🙁 so i went out and bought a 4850.
