Hey I need some help with ym p180 case fans, I heard this case is supposed to have greta airflow but my compnents are idling really hot! I have all the fan 3 speed selectors set to the bottom position max? also my PSU has something that can monitor control the case fans, so does my mobo, could these be limiting the fans power withought me knowing. I dont have the fans plugged into anything on the mobo, since they dont fit the chassis fan connectors. I have 2 of them pluged into the fan only conector on my PSU. Soooooo any help, or is this really just as strong as they are, I hear no noise comming from my pc and only a very slight air extake.

So plug the fans into a regular 4-pin molex connector instead of the fan-only one. See if that helps.

For the P180, I don't think you should trust your PSU's thermal sensors since they're in a different chamber than the other components.

I agree with nobly. I have a P180 sitting next to me and have the fans on medium and can hear them doing their thing. Also just make sure you have them turned up to max and not min. Nobly also makes a good point that the PSU is in a totally different compartment so why should it decide the speed of your fans? :?:

Hey Night,
I have that same case. Here is what I did and I can run Doom 3 or even hammer away at F E A R for a few hours in a NON AIR CONDITION room and my gpu and cpus never get above 68 degrees C.

First as for the tri cool fans that come with the case.
1. Make sure you look closely at the side of the speed switches, (it's hard to read because it is NOT highlighted) . YOu will notice that the fan speeds are indicated by an "L", "M" and "H" respectively. Like I said before I didn't even see it either at first because the indented letters in the small plastic switch box are not highlighted black or some color that we all can see

2. Make sure the fan on the roof is set so it SUCKS air OUT of the case... because we all know hot air rises right?
3. If you have a hard drive mounted in the upper chamber, take it out and mount it in the lower chamber instead.
4. I know we all have said this about airflow before but I will say it anyway. Clear all wiring away from the cpu and VID CARDS ESPECIALLY.
5. Carefully fold your IDE ribbons for your floppy and optical drives tuck them behind the slide out metal box and if you can, whatever will fit behind the space behind your mobo.
6. For the fan wires and the 4-pin power plug (you may have to mod the wire for this one) that goes to your mobo, run those wires up the side/inside-corner of the case and secure it with small zip-ties.
7. Make sure that the sliding door that separates the upper from the lower chamber is tightly closed so hot air from the hdd's and PSU don't seap upwards.
8. Make sure your PSU fan is facing upwards. .....there is more space between the top of the PSU and the chamber divider, then there is underneath.
9. Whatever wires that are NOT being used coming from the PSU, tuck them underneath the PSU and make sure none can sneak back out and get chopped by the mid-way fan in the lower chamber.

That's about all I can think of for now. If you want, I can send you a shot or 2 of how I got my rig set up. Shoot me a PM w/ your "E" and I'll send them right out to ya.
Hope this helps your heat issue man....works for me...Cheers

if you go to that link, you'll see the case, well, i ordered the Black Version of the case and was curious as to what is that black plastic that sits on across from the motherboard? Mine did not come with that and was wondering what the purpose was for it and if it's helpful, how can I get one.

if you read the silentpcreview review of the original P180 the VGA duct was fairly useless. It's a good thing that your case doesn't have one :)

I've got a P180 too and tried using the VGA duct with an akasa 80mm fan and it made absolutely no difference at all to the temp of my 9800XT, not even 1c so I took it out.

With all the fans set to high my system temps is about 33c on a cool day and CPU (AMD Socket A 2300Mhz) idles at 35-40c and graphics card is always at 71c. 3 year old system but im a poor man.
