Hey guys,
I need some assistance with a computer problem I've encountered recently. Here are the specs of my system:
  • Motherboard: Z87K
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K
  • RAM: 16GB
  • PSU: 600W
  • Graphics Card: RX580 8GB 2048SP
The problem started when I decided to use the DisplayPort on my graphics card for the first time. Previously, I had been using HDMI, and everything worked fine. I connected my computer to my TV via a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.
Here's what happened:
  1. The computer briefly turned on.
  2. I saw a signal on the display (it was displaying for some seconds).
  3. Then, it turned off.
When I attempted to turn it back on, the PC seems to start for about half a second and won't boot. I've tried the usual troubleshooting steps like removing the CMOS battery, reseating the RAM, connecting the GPU to another PCIE slot, checking all connections, and plugging/unplugging everything. Strangely, the computer only works when I remove the GPU entirely.
I can see the GPU fans start to move for that half-second when I try to power on the PC, but it won't boot. I even opened up the GPU, but it doesn't seem damaged, and there's no burnt smell.
When I press the power button, with the GPU connected, the PC initiates this half-second boot sequence. Nevertheless, it only does so on the initial attempt following the reconnection of power. Subsequent presses of the power button do not result in any action; it requires unplugging and plugging it back in for the PC to attempt to boot again.
For now, I'm using my computer without the GPU because I need it for work, but I was wondering if my GPU is dead or what might be causing this issue? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

PSU: 600W
600W is the advertised wattage of the unit. What is the make and model of the PSU in your build? How old is the unit?
Its a Cooler Master Thunder 600W. TBH I don't know how old is the system. I bought it second hand for pretty cheap but I guess it has very high mileage. One IMPORTANT thing to mention is that it happened right after installing a new computer fan (but disconnecting the fan does not solve the issue. I even tried disconnecting all the fans)
