First, look at the current requirements for your 7800GT... Evga says 18 amps of 12V. So go to your owner's manual or online and find out what your PS supplies at 12V. How many optical drives do you have? Do you plan to add more HDs or other peripherals? You can also find PS load estimators like on jonnyGuru.com. Also check out what jonny says about PS quality. That will get you a pretty good feel for where you're at. If your's is a really solid PS at 450 watts, you're at least close. I like having some headroom, but YMMV.

Personally, I'd go with a 500 watt, higher-end PSU just to be on the safe side. I'd rather have too much power than not enough, you know?

96w - AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ (non overclocked)
20w - Asus A8N5X (Estimate)
57w - EVGA GeForce7800GT (non overclocked)
10w - OCZ 2GB (Estimate)
15w - 160gig sata hd (Estimate)
15w - DVD Drive (Estimate) I assume you have one
10w - Sound Card (Estimate) I assume you have one
10w - 2 Case Fans (Estimate) I assume you have two

233w = Total Power Consumption under 100% load (everything is running at the same time)

25w - Overclocked GPU (Estimate)
25w - Overclocked CPU (Estimate)

283w = Total Power Consumption Overclocked

CPU Power Consumption - Actual Measurement

GPU Power Consumption - Actual Measurement

Recommended PSU:

Seasonic S12 380 - More than enough power.

Seasonic S12 430 - If you want to be on the safe side.

Seasonic S12 500 - Overkill

Use this handy website to figure out how much power you need for your setup:

It's a good resource, but it's all based on estimates on the high side (to be safe) and not actual measurements.

In my above post based on actaul measurement of a non OC'ed X2 4800+ the power consumption is 96w. According to the links estimate it is 110w.

The site is wrong because 110w is the TDP of the Athlon X2 4800+. TDP and power consumption are not the same.

Also, based on actual measurement of a non OC'ed 7800GT, it's power consumption is 57w vs. the estimate of 73w.

It is good to estimate higher for safety issues, but many people have also criticized that website, because everything is estimated to be too high. Also remember that the estimates from that site and my own assumes 100% load (actually the the calculator allows you to adjust the load) which would be the worst possible situation. Actual power consumption, even during gameplay, will be lower.
