I need to reset Windows 10 to fix my computer, since I have been having multiple issues with the store and so on. I chose the option to keep my files and settings, but then it showed a pop-up with a long list of programs I would have to reinstall. Some of the things on this list are programs that had already been installed on the computer, such as the Realtek HD Audio Driver and Microsoft Visual C++. If I was to reset, how would I be able to get these programs back on my PC?

if your reset fails, i would do a fresh install but you need to make sure you back up everything on the drive c is on, as unless you had win 8 on there before, good chance windows 10 will want to wipe the hdd before it lets you put win 10 on it

once you have everything backed up, Download this and create a Windows 10 install USB or DVD: win 10 media creation tool

change boot order of the pc so usb or dvd is first, hdd second
boot from installer and follow this: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

clean install likely to help you avoid all the stuff that was bugging out before. Just make sure to run driver booster after install to get latest drivers.

Good luck :)

Well, the two that you mentioned are programs you can download again from the manufacture websites. Realtek HD Audio driver is for your sound, when you boot Windows 10 up again, the updates will probably recognize this and install it for you. Visual C++ is installed with a lot of programs: Microsoft Office, Visual Studio, etc. This will be installed by the program that needs it.

But to answer your question, before you do this, if there's any programs you have on there now that you know are important, make sure you have a record of the serial keys, install files and you can verify you can reinstall them. One utility that would really help in this case is Belarc. Go to their website and download the advisor, it will give you a complete report of your system, including software and popular software serial keys.

Let me know if this helps!

I tried this, and it was in the resetting process for about 20 minutes, then it returns to the start screen and says that no changes were made. What happened?

If this happened to me, I'd restore from a recent backup I've made.
When you've gotten your system back like you want it, I urge you to get yourself an external hard drive and a good 3rd party backup program. You can set it up to do everything automagically at the time and frequency of your choice. 1 TB external hard drives are about $55 these days and a really good FREE backup program is the Easeus Todo Backup Free. That can save you a lot of time and frustration the next time something like this happens. Sooner or later it happens to all computers for one reason or another.

Good luck.
