Hello all,

I am having trouble running Sysprep. I keep getting "Fatal error occurred while trying to sysprep the machine".

I have disabled the Media player sharing and I have explorer 11 installed.

here is the setuperrr.log

Thanks in advance.

Open command line and do a slmgr /dlv, after a few seconds it will pop up a Window, check what the "Remaining Windows rearm count" is. If it is 0 you will have to change you answer file to add " Microsoft-Windows-Security-Licensing-SPP" "SkipRearm 1.
Either that or reinstall using the OEM CD's which will give you 3 rearm's.
I have found that the copy-profile setting doesn't work when I have skiprearm set to 1.

We buy our computers from HP and I do the imaging and have found that of late the remaining rearm count is 0 as HP have used 3 rearms in their sysprepping. I would not be surprised if other vendors did that.

This post here has some helpful information:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/425bd101-8a87-488c-b2e2-9f2f8113a0d9/sysprep-fatal-error-occurred-while-trying-to-sysprep-the-machine?forum=w7itproinstall

I have not been able to get the registry key to work for me, but others have gotten it functioning.

A rearm count of 4 then should be perfectly fine. Something else is breaking sysprep then.
I have had an antivirus program cause sysprep to not function if it was installed before prepping.

Are you using an answer file and have you validated it?

One of the more common causes of Sysprep failure is security software. If you have any software that actively protects core system files, it can interfere with Sysprep’s attempts to reset those files to default values. You may need to at least disable, or possibly remove security software that prevents Sysprep’s actions.
