I can't get my computer to work properly with a second
graphics card!
can you help?
SOme back ground:

HP Pavilion 9800 (custom built)
WIN ME
AMD 900
256 RAM
INVIDIA GE Force 256 GTS, 32 megs DDR
SB Live
DVD, CDRW
some unknown motherboard brand, "Alcatraz", according to HP

What I did: installed the PCI card on PCI slot one, next to
the AGP card. Got a Vanta, from VIsionteck or some other company (tried a couple of cards actually). The best I got after hours of cursing was to get a good picture on the secondary monitor (which became the primary monitor on
the PCI card), while my primary monitor (on the AGP nvidia)
became the secondary monitor, with a crappy image (lines separated, looked like a scan problem). Despite the fact that the bios indicated that the primary display was to be the AGP card, the computer did not seem to care. I had
no control on what was primary/secondary, since I could not
reassign them.

Windows did show the two monitors as AGP Invidia - secondary (crappy picture) PCI vanta - primary (good picture)

I was actually able to move open programs from one monitor to the other, despite the bad image (scan lines expanded)
The system did not indicate any IRQ conflicts.

ANY ideas?
a driver problem???

try moving the pci video card to a different slot. Usually the first pci slot shares an irq with the agp slot - something you want to avoid.

I have not yet begun to procrastinate.
