Hey so I've been trying for weeks to record myself and my gameplay and that in itself is not hard just overlay in obs. BUT! I can not find for the life of me a way to record my face separately from my gameplay so in post I can have my face came wherever I want it on screen or shrink and enlarge it separately from my gameplay.

So you want to do two recordings independently of each other?
Hey so I've been trying for weeks to record myself and my gameplay and that in itself is not hard just overlay in obs. BUT! I can not find for the life of me a way to record my face separately from my gameplay so in post I can have my face came wherever I want it on screen or shrink and enlarge it separately from my gameplay.
I've done some recording by obs studio myself, but never came in a situation where two recordings was neccesary.

You can always try to see if you somehow manage this goal by:
  • Two instances of Obs.
  • If you somehow make the game recording output having a larger canvas than the screen itself and the recording of face is located in a unused/black part of the canvas (you can crop it later with Avidemux or other programs) - I don't know if this can be done.

Alternatively, you could use screen recording software that allows you to record multiple video sources at the same time, such as the free software OBS Studio or the paid software XSplit. These programs allow you to create multiple scenes and switch between them during recording or streaming, so you could have one scene with your gameplay and another scene with your face, and switch between them as needed.
Once you have your separate video sources recorded, you can import them into your video editing software and edit them independently, resizing and positioning your face cam wherever you like on screen.

You will need a separate camera or a webcam to record the game.

Connect your camera to your computer, then launch OBS and create a new "Video Capture Device" source.

Select your camera or webcam from the dropdown menu and make any necessary adjustments.

In the OBS timeline, place the new video source on top of your gameplay capture source.

Begin recording your gameplay as normal. Your face should now be recorded independently as a video source.

You may import both the gaming footage and the facial film into your video editing software in post-production and position them wherever you like on the screen. You can also change the size and position of each video source individually.
