My system does not support Win 11.
I know that I will have to upgrade to a new MB and CPU for Win 11
and my system is 5 years old so I would like to be ready for the inevitable.
My main concern is keeping all of my files.
What do I need to do to make this transfer as painless as possible?

Thanks in advance for any help/advise you can offer.

I understand and my files are backed up
However, what is the easiest path to Win 11?
By that I mean will changing the cpu/MB while I'm still running Win 10 cause issues?
Or, do I have to install the MB/CPU, purchase Win 11 and go from there?
I would like to save a few bucks by taking advantage of the free upgrade.

What components do you have now?

Are you looking to build a new system?

Where did your current Win 10 license come from?

Win 10 is still fully supported until Oct 2025...no real need to upgrade now.

I will be building with all new components and also purchasing a win 11 license for the build. However I have a hard drive from my old system (no OS on it) that I would like to use . Will I be able to use the programs from this second drive? and if so what are the steps that I need to take. Sorry for the late reply and I do appreciate your response.

You'll need to reinstall your applications.
They won't automatically transfer into the new OS.
