Hey,

Does anyone know if AMD FX-8300 will work on XENServer? It cant find really anyone on google that can give a clear cut answer if AMD-v is enough?

The services I want to run are PfSense, SMTP Server, Web Server, Plex Media Center, and Own Cloud.

I have included a PCPartsList.

Some of the parts below I alread have like the CPU, Cooler, Case, PSU, and SSD's, RAM.

Why use SSDs with a controller that limits performance to what would be achieved with hard disks? That controller has a good transfer rate when used in a PCI-X slot, but not when used in a PCI slot. Are you sure that it will work in a 32 bit slot?

If I were you I'd look for a PCI-E 4x controller like the 3ware 9590SE-16ML. Then you need to compile the drivers or get them from LSI support.
Why the older FX-8300 instead of the FX-8320? If stability is important, then you should consider the better GA-970A-UD3P (8 phase VRM). The RAID controller certainly won't be very fast in a 32 bit PCI slot; why don't you buy a PCI Express controller? It would be much better if you plan on using SSDs.

Both the GA-970A-DS3P and the GA-970A-UD3P support ESXi, including IOMMU; therefore there should be no problems with XenServer.

I want to use the 8300 cause I have one lying around, I Will instead opt for the UD3P cause I didn't realize it was only $10 more.

The RAID card was just one that I found im not sold on it, so if have suggestions I'm all ears. I want to run the 4 SSD's in Raid 10 and the 2 - 2TB Drives in Raid 1.
