Anyone using this product and know how to get the watermark out of the PRO
transitions? I reinstalled and now have this problem with little help from
support. I was hoping someone here knew the fix.

TIA

Register online? I use it. Have Keycode (comes with the product) and
registered online. No problem.

If you don't have the "Pro" version, but the "Plus" version, you will
see watermarks on the "Pro" transitions. Sort of like a teaser to entice
you to purchase the Pro upgrade. If, again, you have the Pro version,
enter the Keycode and re-register online. All will be well again. I have
had to do it a couple of times. Painless.

Thanks for the reply Tony. I don't get this on Pinnacle Webboards. I post
and the message sits there forever. I am now waiting for tech support to
respond but I am not holding my breath. I have made some progress as I
re-installed V5.1 and re-entered the key code in V4.6 (both PRO). Now the
problem I am seeing it that all the PRO transitions in V5.1 Pro are
watermarked along with some of the ones I created in V4.6. I read about a
fix which I tried but it didn't work and it said it was for V4.6 and made no
mention of anything for V5.1. I am tempted to go to S9 but I would like to
get things back to normal with S8 first. I have tried to re-register a few
times but nothing happens when I click on that selection from the
application and when I to it from their web site it says the number and info
I supply is already registered to another user.
Thanks Tony I hope you can help me with this issue.

Regards.

First, I would suggest you go to the Studio 8 webforum and look for Mike
Shaw. Also, you might want to look
Ask Mike Shaw, he seems to be a whiz with the Studio products and I
believe still uses Studio 8.
Also, within the webforum, I saw this:

"I have encountered this problem when installing an upgrade for studio.
The solution I discovered is to carry out the following procedure.
1. Open "my computer"
2. Goto C drive and open program folder.
3. Find "pinnacle" folder and open.
4. Open the "HFXplus" folder, then open "Host plugins" folder, then open
"studio" folder.
5. Right click on "HFX4.dll" file and copy.
6. Return back to the "pinnacle" folder.
7. Open "Studio" folder, then the "Plugins" folder.
8. Delete the existing "HFX4.dll".
9. Right click and paste replacement file.
10.Open Studio and the new transitions should be installed."

I don't know if it will help, but they mention watermarks in the Pro
version.
Also, look for Allen "video777". He has done a lot of work with Studio
(now using Liquid Edition).

Someone else wrote "I don't know if this will work for you, but it
worked for me. However, I'm using HFX pro 5.1 - otherwise my problem was
the same.

Uninstall Studio and HFX. Then use regdelete to cleanup the registry.
Reinstall Studio and any patches you are going to install. Next
uninstall HFX basic, then install and register HFX pro."

I am using LE5.5 with HFXPro5 with no trouble at all. I love the program
in spite of the learning curve (bought a few training DVD's to cut down
on the learning and to detox from Premiere). I am not really familiar
with Studio 8 (although I will be getting it in a couple of days, really
just want the Moviebox DV). As much as a pain it can be, I would
uninstall everything and start over from scratch after a regclean. Make
sure that all your folders are deleted and start fresh. What have you
got to lose. With the DV500, I had to just uninstall HFX and reinstall
it in order and it worked fine.
I don't know what version of Windows you are using (me, XP Pro), but do
a system restore point before you decide to uninstall everything and reg
clean the registry.
Let me know what happens.

OK Tony. Thanks for this. This is more advice than I have gotten from
searching webboards. I just got an answer from tech support that said HFX
Pro V5 was not compatible with S8 only S9. I was unaware of this as I
upgraded to V5 Sept 03. I don't think S9 was available that long ago so I am
thinking they might be giving me some erroneous information. I have Mike
Shaw's training disk but have not had much time to review it. I have been
able to do ok on my own so far with V4.6 Pro. I am using XP Pro with a P4
2.4 Ghz w/1Gig ram and have had great luck with S8 and love the ease of
every aspect from capture to edit and burn. I love the moving menus and 3D
effects of HFX and have never even thought of any other application. Let me
know what the difference between LE and Studio is and which you like the
best. I will wait a day or so to see what tech support has to say before I
start the overhaul and reinstall.

Thanks again and I am looking forward to read about your progress and
experiences with Studio.

Tony. Reporting back. I did as you have suggested along with a reply from
Pinnacle support I removed HFX applications running reg clean and
reinstalling but the condition remains the same. PRO watermarks remaining I
am now waiting another email from support with any more help if it is
possible.

Regards.

I hope they provide an answer for you. I remember when I bought a Matrox
RT2500 over the Pinnacle DV500Plus. The Matrox cost more, but for me,
offered more. My computer met all the specs necessary to run the
hard/software. Well, after a month of myself and Matrox tech support
trying to get things up and running (they were stellar in responding), I
took the card back and got the DV500 and some cash back (bought it from
Videoguys). I stuck the DV500 in the first open slot and it worked the
very first time. I have had the card in two different machines and OS's
and it has still worked. Upgraded from v2.0 to v4.5 and it still worked.
Installed Liquid Edition and burned my first DVD in a day. But there
are others that have had the same problem as you (along with other
probs) that sometimes, can't be resolved. I sincerely hope that all will
be well for you. Post your outcome. If I can think of something else, or
hear of anything else, I will post it up.\
Try this site and leave email for Allen. He might have some insights for
you being that he too is a Studio user. http://www.video777.com/

Thanks again Tony. I don't have hopes of solving this issue so rather then
dwell on it and let it bum me out I will find some other toy to occupy
myself with. Using Hollywood FX just takes up a lot of time anyway and I
don't make a living out of making videos thank God. If I knew for sure there
was a simple answer like upgrading to S9 I would do it just to save time. Do
you say LE and HFX Pro are completely compatible? I might think of going
that route.

Regards.

I understand your frustration. I would download the demo version of
Liquid Edition first. Install it, try it and see if it works in your
system. Remember, the interface is TOTALLY different and will require
some help. Fortunately, Pinnacle has online videos to help you,
http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PBN/default2.asp?Category_ID=2&Langue_ID=7.
Also, Mike Shaw, http://www.mikeshaw.co.uk/ has some help for those
making the transition. It wasn't easy for me to go from Premiere to LE,
but it was worth the work put in.
LE works with Firewire. If you need analog, you will have to buy a
analog to dv converter or use a dv cam with firewire as a passthru
(assuming the camera has analog inputs). I picked up a Studio MovieBox
DV just to get the MovieBox converter (paid less for the entire package
than purchasing the MovieBox converter from Pinnacle).
I remember the agony with the Matrox. I gave up.

Great Tony. I like those videos. I guess then that is the route I will go.
I like HFX Pro LE version much better than Studio with the PIP and
background rendering. This will come at a perfect time as I will be
returning from vacationing with fresh video to work on. The month of
September in Jamaica will yield me some interesting stuff that should turn
out well. I have a DV cam with passthru but not much analog stuff these
days. Always fresh stuff keeps me as busy as I care to be on just a hobby.
Too bad Pinnacle couldn't spend more time supporting the Studio package as
there seem to be more than a few users out there that would enjoy the
support. I still can't believe the email I got last week from them first
telling me that Hollywood HFX Pro V5.2 only worked on Studio 9 when I had
been using it for a year. Way before S9 was even release. They did email me
back with the correction but that says they are really not paying much
attention to the poor Studio users.
Thanks again Tony and post back sometime soon when you get everything
running with your experiences with S9.

I am waiting right now before I make my next computer upgrade. I would
like to go Athlon64 with PCI express, but want to see if there are
compatibilities issues. If anything, I will clone my system HD to be safe.

I left from Miami to go to Jamaica. We first landed in Kingston, then,
hugged the mountain tops to MoBay. Hopped into a "cab" for a 2hr ride to
Negril.

Reading the reviews of Studio, it sounds like it is an excellent program
for the hobbyist/semi-pro. My only gripe right now with LE is there is
no Smartsound intergration, nor AC3 audio. But, they are planning a
'major' upgrade on the program real soon.
Stream those videos! I would be interested in seeing Jamaica again, if
only from a video that isn't a commercial.
Safe trip.

When I shoot video, I know already how I want to edit, and shoot that
way. As for stills, I know several people that do a lot of it and use
Photoshop for editing.
As for customers, they can be overwhelmed with what you can do. I listen
to them, ask what they would like to see, and then give them a finished
product. Since most of my business is word of mouth, the customer has
already seen my product and know what I can do.

I too want all the 'frills'. Need a/c for sure. Cable/satellite is good.
And of course, a nice ocean breeze. Maybe one day I will make it back
there. The food was great. I was hooked on jerk chicken. We would travel
to the 'out of the way' places to get it.

Enjoy your vacation. Nothing like editing it for DVD.
