So i read around looking for good builds and i decided on this $1000 build i found. Have been reading more about it and have some questions on it. I already got DDr4 instead of 3. But how are the rest of the items on the list? Thoughts and opinions? BTW.. i already purchased everything on the list.. any info would be much appreciated thanks.

Went with the $1000 build on high end systems. Thanks

CPU Intel Core i5-6600K

FAN CM Hyper 212 EVO

MOBO Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3

GPU Gigabyte GTX 980

RAM Crucial Ballistix 16GB DDR4

SSD Crucial BX100 120GB

HDD Seagate 1 TB

CASE Corsair Carbide 200R

PSU Corsair CX600

ODD Samsung 24x SATA

I'd opt for a Western Digital Blue HDD instead of the Seagate. I've had 2 Seagates go bad within the first year of having them. And they're the same price as the Seagate. Everything else looks solid to me. What about operating system and peripherals?

Solid build, although I would have maybe considered a higher wattage PSU. If you were to ever want to add a second graphics card -or any other high bandwidth PCIe cards of any sort- you would probably be tapping out the 600W.

Other than that, I have the same GPU, and a X99/DDR4 build and it is AWESOME!

Happy gamin' an' encodin'

Thanks for the reply bro, already ordered last night 🙁 I'll be using windows 8.1 and not familiar with perpherals? what is that? Hopefully my mobo works good and what do you think of my my mobo with the graphics card? should do nice together right? Thanks alot of the help

Thanks for the reply man. Ya i thought about that, but the motherboard wont let me use 2 nvidia cards right? only 2 ati? not sure on this though. Thanks for the input man. Bought it all last night 🙁 got it coming tomorrow

You can use up to two ATI or NVIDIA in Crossfire and SLI respectively - the amount of cards depends on a few things; 1) The number of CPU Lanes, and the slots on the board.
Your board can handle 2 cards. Here are the specs from intel for your CPU:

PCI Express Configurations Up to 1x16, 2x8, 1x8/2x4
Max # of PCI Express Lanes 16

This means that when you run one card, it runs at full 16x speed, if you run 2 cards, they each run at x8....although this does NOT translate to your cards being "cut in half"....two cards will still outperform a single one.

The total number of PCI lanes your CPU can handle is 16, compared to 28 and 40 on newer chips. This wont impact gaming much, but if you add other PCI cards other than the GPU(s) as I mentioned before, you can run out of "room" on the PCI Bus. This probably wont be an issue.

You can use any card(s) you want they just have to be identical if you wanna use two in SLI/Crossfire.

Peripherals are just extra hardware like speakers, mouse, keyboard, soundcard, etc.

P.S
Oh and I concur go WD for storage Seagate drives are terrible nowadays :| in my experience.'

Yeah you got a solid mobo and a solid card..should be a good build!

Thanks so much for the info man, been looking for alittle more info on this and was hoping i made some good purchases. The MOBO reviews (which are very few) kinda had me scared about any issues but everything else looks good. Thanks for the info on the HDD too, i might send the other one back if i can without too much loss on it. Lots of insight bro. As for periphals, lol none 🙁 i still need a new monitor, keyboard and speakers.. but those will come eventually haha. Very nice forums here. So for about the $1100 i had to spend, you would say i did pretty good? Cant wait to try this out, hope i dont have any issues.

By peripherals I mean keyboard, mouse, monitoer, etc... Gigabyte is good brand. The Ultra Durable (UD) is a good line of products.

Ya that's what i thought. Has 2/3 negative reviews on new egg and 1 negative on amazon. I just hop everything works out for me, im pretty excited to finally get a new computer after 10 years lol.

Anyway if you get some time could you check out the reviews on it? I wrote this on another forum and a guy says not to use it if it has bad reviews etc, just has me worried. Thanks for any info man
