It's been getting bsod for years. I thought it was a bad motherboard, but a friend claims I can possibly fix it with driver updates and such. I think I have all the drivers updated. I don't know for sure as the Biostar website isn't that great with older updates?

Here's what I have:

Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit OS with current updates.
Biostar TA785G3 motherboard (with latest bios update from their site, i believe)
Athlon II x4 640 - 3.0Ghz
4 gig ram
ATI Radeon HD 3400 pcie 2.0 video
Motherboard has an ATI hd 4200 onboard, but the system crashes with either video card running.

I'm sure you need more info to solve? Let me know if you can help. Thanks!

I do agree it could be software conflict, assuming that it is not bad hardware. I personally do not like using registry cleaners. In my opinion, I would back up all important files, format the drive and try a fresh install of windows. Then I would wait 24 hr with computer offline to see if bsod happens. If the computer did not crash. Then only run windows update and wait 24 hours. If the computer is still working correctly, I would set a restore piont, and install the programs you normally use.

check memory speeds mismatch .... is it an assembled machine or an OEM??? .. i had a similar issue with windows 7 when fsb of board and processor didn't matched... however it was intel .. and AMD uses more advanced Direct Connect Architecture ... check this could be an issue if clean install didnt word... your board is designed for AMD Phenom II processor ......... check it up on biostar forum

Thanks! After trying everything, for some reason I decided to try different power management settings in the bios. I changed the mode or something I don't quite understand, and it hasn't crashed one single time since. lol. also the computer was hibernating when I came back to it after being away, which it never did before, kind of cool. Not sure if it's working, but Thanks very much for the great suggestions.

Hello. I know its been a while since your last post but what is probably causing this is the graphics card. First off uninstall the drivers off the desktop. Unpower your pc and take the graphics card out. You should be able to use the pc with free of worries!
