I've backed up my whole computer, and when i open the passport I saw the folders with dates of the back up day. and then it has all the folders. When I click into the folder called Users, which means the accounts on my computer, I clicked into my account, then all the folders has a red coloured minus circle on the lower right corner. When i click into it, it saids I have no permission to see it's content. WHAT SHOULD I DO?? I already deleted the files because i thought it can be viewed on my passport! PLEASE HELP

Click once on your Users folder on the drive from Finder, then Command + I, which will bring up the Get Info for the Folder, Expand Sharing and Permissions, Unlock the Panel by clicking the padlock at the bottom left and entering your admin info. In the sharing and permissions list, make sure your user account is listed and that it is set to read only(or read and write, though be careful..). If it is not listed, click the + at the bottom of the list, and add your account. After this click on the "gear" to the right of the +, and make sure you click on "Apply to enclosed items".. this will make sure all permissions of the contents of the users folder matches the folder itself(this will take a long time to complete if there is a lot of...

Keep in mind that if you used Time Machine to backup.. it would be simpler to restore the files to your computer, look at this article about that - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201250

Also as a side not moving files to an external drive and then deleting them from the source computer isn't a true backup(offload). If you did use Time Machine, since it relies on what is CURRENTLY on your computer for its incremental backups, you put your data that you have deleted from the computer at risk since there will be no future backups of those files, and once the drive files and Time Machine starts the thinning process to regain space on the drive, those files may be lost.
