Hey. A question. Is it normal that my i5 4670 cpu goes up to 95-100C when Im livestreaming a game on twitch tv? The cores go around 95-100c while being under 70-90% load.

Well, the game is quite cpu heavy and streaming has been known to take up a lot of cpu power. The thermopaste is totally new, like a week or so. You recon I should take the mobo out and check if the heatsink/fan pins are in all the way?
The cpu is right above the video card, which is quite large and also generates quite a lot of heat. No 90-100 a lot, but around 60C. I thought it might be because the hot air from my r9 270x goes up and the cpu just sucks it up and keeps cycling hot air without any fresh air coming in.

The first software I was using to check my cpu was sitting at a constant 120c. I got scared, turned the streaming off and waited for it to drop, it didnt, so I knew it was faulty. The second one is actually showing me proper temps.
I will lay off streaming till I find a solution for this problem. I know it should go this high.
I have no idea why bios isnt throttling it, but I might just take the mobo out and re-apply thermalpaste. I might of added too much I guess. I never know the proper amount.

You got me wrong buddy. Im not watching a video. im streaming it. I use OBS - open broadcaster software to stream my screen to twitch servers, which then streams it further to the website itself, so others can view it. Thats why I mentioned that the game has been known to draw a bit of cpu. Why else would all 4 cores be at heavy load (70-95%). I am the one that streams, not the one that watches.
The fan is running properly. I just re-applied a new (thiner) layer of thermal paste (after cleaning off the old one ofcourse). I am going to test it under a heavy load of streaming 720p and the game running. Will post results.

Cloth, ear cleaning cotton tip with some rubbing alchocol.
It actually was my fault. I think i had too much paste on it. Now, after re-applying the paste, cores hower around 60-70C at heavy load (70-95%).

I have never seen any AMD cpu hit anything like 100C , but that is only one of the things you know nothing about .

Intels cpu's should begin throttling when they hit TDP . You would expect that to be well before the OP's reported temps .

The thing about paste is that its designed to fill microscopic pores and unevenness . The trick is to use as little as possible because it never conducts heat as well as metal to metal contact would . Its just a case of being better than an air gap .

60 -70 C is about right . And using isopropyl alcohol was also the correct thing to use to clean up
