Question High CPU usage when using Chrome

Today I've noticed that Chrome goes up to 100% CPU and 40% Disk usage. I've had my PC for 10 weeks with hardware acceleration enables in Chrome and had no issues like this.

Even idle it would be at around 30%.

I restarted my PC and the issue still persisted before going away by itself after a few minutes. My CPU is at 4% now as it usually is. When playing Youtube in 1080p is doesn't pass 20%, the same applies to stream so I have no idea how I just reached 100%.

For now, everything seems to be working fine but what can I do to further prevent this?

full system spec? include make and model of the psu
what extension do you have in chrome?

A few years back, the occasional website here and there was dabbling in 'unintentional cryptomining', utilizing some of the user's CPU resources for mining crypto-currency as a 'cost of business' for visiting said site to generate revenue...

Not saying for sure it applies, of course, but, one can't rule it out if it happens only at a few websites, for example...
