Earlier today my Sager NP8652-S surprised me when it started beeping loudly in a high pitch every second or so. After beeping for about one minute, it automatically shut down without any warning. I looked up similar cases and a recurring theme seemed to be overheating. I opened the laptop and cleaned out some dust that was in the fans. This seemed to help but it happened again when I tried to run Rocket League. I shut off the laptop and let it sit for a bit and then used it, with only Chrome and Word running and it worked perfectly. So I looked for other culprits. I found that when I turned my fan on max with Fn+1, it initiated the beeping and shut down immediately even if the computer had just been turned on and was completely cool. At this point I'm fairly certain that my problem is my fan and my question is, Does anyone know how to fix this problem I'm having with my laptop fan?

Solution
Well most fans be it on a tower based system or a laptop.

Have what we call pwm fans.

Power With Modulation.

If you have ever noticed how your fan becomes louder at some point when using the laptop for example when playing a game or running a bit of software.

It is due to the PWM based fan in the system.
How a PWM fan works is, when the tempreture of the Cpu for example rises.
More power is provided to the fan to make it spin faster in Rpm to push more air at a faster rate to cool things down quicker.

There are about four wires if you look on the fan power cable.
It is sometimes the case that the wire that signals PWM mode where it is soldered to the fan it`s self has snapped or is broken.

When this happens you will get the...

When this happens you will get the Audible error or tone from your laptop due to this.
Because the bios of you laptop is likely monitoring at what rpm the fan is actually spinning at.

The tone you hear can be down to the fact that in the bios of the laptop it has a minimum rotation speed to check for.
If the rate is bellow a set Rpm the alarm will be triggered because the bios in most cases will think the fan is not functioning.

You can buy replacement fans for laptops via ebay by just putting the brand of the laptop and it`s model number in the search bar on the ebay web page.

The average cost of one is about six to ten pounds for a brand new fan unit.
Or have a check for that loose wire and solder it back in place if broken.
Do a good search on ebay if you wish to buy a new fan.
You should get one for a decent price bar the idiots on ebay who think they can sting you for ten times as much as one should cost.
