Hello all, I'm getting high temperatures on my 1070 when I'm playing Rainbow Six Siege. My fans are on 100% and are extremely loud but my Afterburner still shows 83c. I didn't have this before because I was getting 150-190 fps in game and now I'm only getting 90-120. I don't know what's going on please help thanks.

Hi, what style case do you have?(This can matter) Also are your fans configured inside the case to pull push? And lastly did you install a front mounted AIO? I noticed my temps on my gtx 1080ti rose about 5 to 15c on average gaming when I replacing a dying 240aio with a 360aio.

You can test if the card is having heat issues by removing the side panel off for about 1 hour(Not suggested if you have kids, pets or smoke in the same room) If the temps drop, it might be a case issue.

I have two tempered glass side panels, one in the front one on the side. I have plenty of mesh cutouts everywhere as well as 6 case fans configured to 3 axhuast 3 intake. Keep in mind though temps never used to be like this.

How many fans are on the 1070? 2 or 3? And are all of them spinning? You could always try replacing the fans of the gpu for testing purposes. It will cost you anywhere from $10 to $30 on amazon, and if that doesnt work, just return them for a refund. That will atleast help you determine if your fans are not spinning fast enough.

But you said they are spinning, I am assuming you live in an area of the US where you need to turn on the heater to fight off the cold? If so. Question 1, how far is the PC from the heater?

Also I suggest downloading a useful tool called HWinfo. Run it and then go play a game for 10 minutes then check the temps of all your components on the hwinfo. It might help us determine if there is a bigger heating/cooling issues that is causing the gpu to rise in temps.

Also Happy New Years.

Happy New Year! I live in Florida so no I don't have a heater on and I have 2 fans on the 1070. I ran unigine heaven with hwinfo64 running in the background and took some screenshots

I'm thinking the problem is the gpu is boosting itself past the advertised boost clock which is 1797 for my card although people say this is just nvidia's boost 3.0? Either way I'll try turning down temp limit in afterburner and see if that makes a difference.
Update: I set max temp to 75 in afterburner and I'm seeing better fps than when I was running it at 83c. Its still not same as before but I mean I guess I'll use this until I find a better solution.

Reason why it doesn't go over 83c as it's stock settings on afterburner. My 1070 ti would oc itself to 1900mhz and reach the temp limit of 83c and quite down.I was told it's normal on my ti not sure about the plain 1070.
I see, so do you think it will just boost itself until it reaches the temp limit? Also, I have to ask, when I set the temp limit to 75 in afterburner will it save when I close out of the apppplication?

It should, I use evga to handle my fans on my gpu, but in order for it to save, I have to set it to start when the pc boots. Not sure why the sudden heat increase, with 100% fans , temps were much lower in the same case before and no hardware changes were made? Unlikely, but could a software change put something into overdrive?

I don't quite understand what you mean on the last part

Hi sorry for the mass delay in a reply. I was wondering if something on your pc was changed software wise? Like did you accidentally turn on overclocking in the MSI software?

You said no hardware was changed and that the temps risen recently. but no fans are dead that you can tell. But something caused your sudden increase in temps. I was wondering if an update or an accidental press of something put something into overdrive, like MSI Afterburner? I dont OC my gpu, but I could easily, with 1 button push, increase it which would cause my temps to increase.

Again, sorry for the delay, life got busy..

No worries man. I set everything to defaults in Afterburner and PrecisionX software but sadly did not fix the problem. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
