High gpu temps

Hi guys,

I have the corsair 600t case, and I have added the optional side fans to the case, to help with gpu cooling. I am using sli palit gtx 780 ti gpus. When gaming they tend to reach high temps. I have just started playing witcher 2 (late to the game, I know) to play it safe at first I went with the medium settings even though I know I could easily pull off max settings. When playing witcher 2, both of my gpus reached 72C, this was the max, the gpus tended to stay around 65-70C whilst gaming. What do you think of these temps? Are they too high or fine? Remember I am only playing the game on medium settings.

Thanks all!

Solution
Graphics cards are a lot more heat tolerant than CPUs, they also generate a lot more heat.
In general anything under 100C at max load (99% load) is fine for short periods of time.

I get worried when ANY graphics card goes above 90C.

Graphics settings have nothing to do with temperature. What LOAD you have the card on is what matters.
Just check the usage and make sure its at close to 100% for a reliable temp test.
If you can not get to near 100% in game, then use a graphics benchmark like 3D Mark or Unique Heaven.

Thanks for the instant reply! Do you think I should bump the graphics up to high? See what temps I get there, I would be a little annoyed if with sli 780 ti I can't play any higher than medium.

Yeah I'll give it a go, just worried about doing it due to the high temps when playing on medium.

of course the graphics settings have to do with load. The Lower the graphics settings the lower the load. The higher the settings the higher the load, which will increase temperature. I've 2 780s in sli with a corsair 900d case and I get 68 degrees on witcher 2 ultra settings. It's all about your air flow. Try installing an internal fan on to the top gpu as this one will get hotter due to the space between the two cards or look into water cooling. Just make sure you get the correct blocks for the pcb as they varie.

Heat will degrade electronics, but at those temps it should take so long your cards will be obsolete before dying.

I keep my custom fan profile set so my 260x doesnt go above 74c @65% fan speed.
The stock profile would let the card reach +80c before it got to around 65% speed, which stops it from getting hotter.
