[SOLVED] High idle CPU usage and disk usage (acpi.sys+028b90) ?

Hi, im getting high idle cpu usage (around 12%) and constant system disk usage (WRITE about 5-6 MB/s). At first, i noticed significant fps drop in games, pc was off for 20 days and after initial start up friends on discord said i was shuttering, voice was interrupted. Before that everything was ok.
I also did fresh system, windows update, still same. Occasinally im getting after fresh system blue screen "DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE"
What could it be? Thanks guys

fresh install?

Driver power state error seems to suggest its likely an old driver causing the problem

Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

1. Open Windows File Explore
   
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
   
3. Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop
   
4. Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows
   
5. Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder
   
6. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)
   
7. Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .
   

Can you download and run Driverview - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html

All it does is looks at drivers installed; it won't install any (this is intentional as 3rd party driver updaters often get it wrong)

When you run it, go into view tab and set it to hide all Microsoft drivers, will make list shorter.

Now its up to you, you can look through the drivers and try to find old drivers, or you can take a screenshot from (and including)Driver name to (and including)Creation date.

Yes, it is fresh install but drivers are probably now screwed up since i used 3rd party driver downloader. High idle usage was even before system reinstall and it occasionally crashed, not so sure there was same BSOD as current is, because i though it is some malware causing issue and went immediatelly for new system. i guess back then new drivers for an old configuration like this one were not released, it worked for 2 years with the same drivers?

my last system was an Asus Z97 Pro with a 4690k, your system doesn't seem that old to me

have you tested the 2 kingston drives?

acpi is mainly plug n play. should be built into windows
what USB do you have? Blue yeti microphone? (just a guess)

Are the 2 ssd in raid? I only ask as I wondering why you have intel rapid storage technology on there. I recall people used to use it for ssd, but it wasn't really needed. Version seems to be from 2015

I wonder if https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html would update any drivers on PC

They are not in raid, i just later downloaded everything from asus site (drivers), and intel driver assistant did update rapid storage driver but that seems highly unlikely as an issue.
Not blue yeti mic there, i got plugged in steelseries mouse and CM Sirus 5.1 headphones via double usb. On front there is nothing connected.
Somewhere on internet i read that ppl fixed issue by changing motherboard, it obviously changes drivers simultaneously but could it be hardware issue?
Could you simplify for me what actually ACPI does?

ACPI - It seems I have over simplified it and didn't understand it myself

ACPI is the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface standard (Preexisting ACPI Specifications) by which the computer firmware (either the BIOS, for older machines, or its replacement, EUFI) can communicate what hardware is preinstalled in the computer to the operating system. This is how the operating system learns about what CPU and chipset the computer uses, what buses are attached, and so forth. The operating system works its way down the tree provided initially via ACPI and then queries devices on the buses such as PCIe, USB, and others, to determine what drivers should be loaded to access each device (or to install new drivers if a new device is detected.)

ACPI also provides information about thermal zones defined by the computer and what mechanisms exist to control power usage and manage heat that the operating system can interact with.

My understanding of it is it should be looked after by Intel Management Engine interface which is teedriver.sys, your installed version being from 2017. the motherboard being from 2015, i doubt there is a newer version of this.

replacing motherboard sure is one way to replace the drivers

Did you install AI Suite from asus?

I see asio.sys running. If you didn't install it, it could have been installed by windows as it often does on Asus computers.

you could try running https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns and stop asio.sys from running at start up, see if it makes any difference.

asio.sys can change values on motherboard but I don't know if it would affect acpi

CDI is showing a lot of read errors on that ssd.
Reseat the sata cable both ends and monitor.

Post a CDI for the other 2 disk.

CDI is just reading out a log.
What you need to do is monitor the log and see if the read errors keep going up quickly.
The read errors may have been slowly building for the last 5 yrs which may not be something to get excited about.
Perhaps run a pass of chkdsk with the R option see what it has to say.
