High Idle Temperature (i5 3570k)

Hi, I'm having problems with my system lately, not sure yet if it's the cooler or the CPU, because it's kinda hard to tell.

I'm currently using Arctic Silver 5 for the thermal compound on a Corsair H100i.

System's specs are in the image; no overclocking whatsoever.

Any ideas why this could happen and where to check first?

UPDATE: After re-applying TC, cleaned the radiator and redoing the connections, there were no changes to the temperatures. It rose from room temp to 80~C in about 15 minutes of idling with CPU usage below 5% and CPU frequency fluctuating from 1.8 to 4.2 Ghz even though it's not overclocked. This is getting awfully scary, and this system is only 4 months old.

re apply your thermal compund.

clean the olod stuff using isopropyl alcohol.
use the rice grain in the middle method and do not spread the thermal compund let the pressure of putting on the heatsink do the spreading, apply pressure and place it down squarely and give it some light twists while pressing down to help the paste spread then clamp it immediatly without lifting it.

That's what I thought too, but CPU usage never goes beyond 5%. Sometimes it spikes to 100+ and then goes to 85~ again.
Tomorrow I'll go redo the thermal compound, but I would say it's not the TC.

Not really sure whether the pump is working properly or not. Corsair said the pump is designed to work as long as it's plugged in and detected by Device Manager, which the system detects without problems... Their software is buggy, so I rarely believe the numbers shown in the CorsairLINK.

how long have you had it running for i can be that the radiator is plugged up...when i see my temps getting high i blow out my system

Put your hand on the pump- is it moving?

Check if the fans are spinning.

I doubt the thermal paste is the problem as well- sounds more like a CPU Temp diode issue- did this happen before?

Like 30~ minutes after booting up.
It wasn't noticable at first as I don't have any real-time temp monitoring, I was playing a game when suddenly I had massive FPS drops. Tried to restart the game; no difference, also lagging on desktop, turned the PC off for about an hour then turned it on again; this happened again after 10 minutes or so..

Yes, this has happened before but I didn't think the CPU was the issue, blamed the problem on the USB plugs not powering the pump, somehow gets fixed when I did a CMOS reset, got normal temps between 35-45 idle.

How do I know if the pump is working?
One thing I noticed is when the system ran like this only one hose is far hotter than the other, while the other hose is cool like room temp
Fans are spinning without problems.

You might have a loose backplate (try wiggle it to see if it moves just a bit), mine was loose too, so i took some rubber grommets and put them in between the Mobo and backplate. heres a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnWMlcB3nTg

I would have noticed it if it was the problem. I remounted the unit when I changed the TC and made sure it's all tight.
