[SOLVED] High ram usage in idle ?

My memory is always at 30% usage in idle that about using 4.8GB ram out of 16. Is this normal?

Can you take a picture of the "Details" tab in Task Manager with "Working set (memory)" showing? You may need to enable it by right clicking on the column headers and select "Select Columns"

Also the Memory page on the "Performance" tab for good measure.

I usally get 3.1-3.4 GB used on idle, with most of that being used by steam clients, antimalware service executable and windows explorer.

Although my other project pc that has a clean install of windows 10 on it only uses 1.8-1.9 Gbs of Ram

Concluding that you may have alot of background programs open that are eating up your Ram so its okay but I only joined this forum today. Anyway good luck with that

It looks like a lot of those apps are simply asking for more RAM but not really using it. The OS will still let them have the space. If you hover over the "Working Set" header, you'll see it says it's the amount of memory used by the process.

So I don't think there's anything wrong here per se.

Ok solved. Changing clear page file at shut down to 1 reduce my memory usage at idle to 20%
