If I get a game on steam, and with my current graphics card I can run that game on high settings 1080p, will I be able to run that game on high settings 1080p 4 years down the line even though I won't be able to play the newer games on high settings?
(I'm a console peasant wanting to become a pc gamer so I'm pretty new to this)

Solution
unless they patch the game with more demanding graphics, then it will perform the same 4 years from now as it does today.

sometimes they patch games with better graphics (bioshock games are about to get this update) to allow it to look better with new gpu's. other than that, no reason the game will all of a sudden perform worse on the same hardware.
