Highend computer specs, but still getting crappy FPS in Minecraft

My computer's specs -

i7 4790 processor
GTX 770 2 GB memory
8 GB ddr3 ram at 1600mhz

I recently just bought Minecraft for the PC, and I average 30 frames per second during gameplay? Considering my gaming specs, I would imagine my machine wouldn't have any problem running a game like this. Other games, like Team Fortress 2, I have no problem running at high frames per second. Is it normal to get on average 30 frames per second in Minecraft? I'm open to any suggestions.

First of all, make sure VSync is turned off. Second of all, make sure Java is updated as well as your drivers. If you've already done those steps, I'm out of ideas.

Post your complete and detailed build spec including monitor and OS.

You're minecraft probably isnt getting all the memory it needs.

Open the launcher

Click "Edit Profile"

At the bottom, check where it says JVM Arguements

The first text in that line should read "-XMX1G"

Replace "1G" with "3g" or even "4G"

This allows more memory to be used.

Click save profile.

THIS WORKS WITH THE LATEST LAUNCHER. Not sure if it does with older ones.

Download the "minecraft.msi"

This DOES NOT NEED JAVA. It has its own. If you don't need Java for anything else, I would uninstall it and install this launcher. then follow my steps above. ^^^^^

Still does. But the new launcher it comes with has it's own version built in. I recently started to play it again for some reason.

I tried to play it again last year but for some reason it was saying my account wasn't usable until I changed it to a Mojang account. I did that and then I was told I needed to buy the game (again -.-)
