Highest Possible GPU for core i3 - 2350m

I am looking to put a external gpu to my laptop Asus x54c, it has 8 gb of ram, but it doesn't have a very good cpu. I'm wondering what's the highest gpu I can use until it bottlenecks with my processor.

Your CPU will bottleneck your GPU depending on the game on the game you want to play. All systems has bottleneck, the difference between one and another is how much it will bottlenecked and who's gonna do it.
What I'm saying is if you play league of legends on this system with any external GPU, your CPU won't bottleneck the system, you'll be able to play it normally, in other hand if you try to play BF1 or GTA V your CPU will probably bottleneck the system
What do you want to play and which quality? Do you intend to get a better notebook later on and keep the external GPU?

The games I would like to play are dota 2 and player unkown. I don't care for the graphics, just pure fps. I'm looking to get a graphics card for later use for my future desktop. I just don't want to get a high end graphics card that won't work.

Any graphic card you put into your notebook will work, but some of them will bottleneck more than the others.
At PUBG, I'm affraid you'll won't be able to play it on this CPU, with any graphic cards, since it's far below the minimal requirements.
For DOTA 2 almost any eGPU will run it, since you want it to your future system, I think the GTX 1050 is the best option.
Although buying a eGPU it's really expensive and won't give the same perfomance.
My suggestion is to you save your money to your future system and maybe get a more powerfull GPU, like the 1060ti

Think hes asking a valid question to what i would like to know there would be a point where there is overkill i have a t420s with nvs 4200m it has a i3 2350m also at 2.30 ghz 2core 4 threads. there is a point weather its a 730 750ti 1030 or a 1050 that going form a 1030 to a 1050 would do you no good or 730 to a 750ti hes just ask where is the point nice thing with my pc it can run in switch able gpu mode the nvidia driver i have can work with egpus also witch mean i dont need a external monitor and have express card slot no running cables or having to remove my wifi card and having to do something ghetto
