my laptop writer is writing blank dvds but it is not reading any sort of dvds except blank one... plz help...

How old is the drive?

its only one & half years old....

A piece of hardware can fail at any time and there is no way to know when that will happen. A dvd writer is not a very complex device and only does one thing , read/wrtie dvd's.
The one thing you can try is to get one of those cd cleaners to try and clean the optical eye inside the device , it may be just need to be cleaned.
