hitachi error.. hard drive broken.. please help!!

My son dropped my 2tb hard drive, hitachi model xl2000. I had over 600 important files on there.. now when i plug it in.. no device can actuli recognise it.. it seems like its trying to read the data thats on there.. the light comes on the hard drive but it doesnt reli work. URGENT. CAN ANYONE HELP?

If this was an external drive, take the actual hard drive out and connect it with another dock, or internally in a PC.
It 'might' be just the enclosure that's broken. Maybe.

Well i took the hard drive out completely and connected it to my laptop if thats what you mean but i dont have a computer to internally connect it to

The light just means power is getting to the enclosure. The drive actually working is a whole different thing.
If you've taken it out and connected to a different machine...and still nothing...it's dead.

This is what backups are for, especially if that data lives on an external drive.

I know, its okay worst part is i was going to get a new hard drive a few days later to back it up once i got paid.
