Motherboard has:
Support for DDR3 1600/1333 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules

HMT42GR7MFR4C-PB
ECC Registered Server Memory

I believe that the motherboard not only uses only non-ECC memory, but that it does not support the use of Registered memory.
