I think Diablo 3's story is weak.
I think that guy's criticism is worthless and wrong even without his credibility hinging on his having created the story(?) of charlie's angels.

Compare Diablo 3 to Diablo 2 or the original Diablo, and it's pretty clear what's missing: the third one is written for preteens.
The overlords of all hell congratulate the hero for defeating them.
There is an anime scene in the intro.
Tyrael is too good. Leah is too good.
The dialog itself. "There's no justice in murder" is not meant to be a witticism but an equation of justice with compassion and kindess.
The graphics remind me too much of dungeon siege.

On the other hand, consider that guy's criticisms:
1) There are no choices made by the character.
- Obviously, this is a diablo game rather than Baldur's Gate.
2) The cut scenes aren't in the same style as the rest of hte game.
- Obviously, this is a diablo game.
3) He didn't feel any attachment to the characters.
- He obviously didn't play D1 or D2 in which Deckard Cain, Tyrael, and Adria were encountered. Nevertheless, i do agree that Deckard's death was completely uninspired. Using the in-game engine for it was a missed opportunity.

Nothing like Terminator 2, Avatar, Transformer, and so on. What makes his comment so important?

you just listed the worst possible films if you are looking for story/screen play. Terminator can be excluded from that list, but the only reason avatar was anything was because of 3d and transformer was only huge because evry kid who played with them is old enought to buy a movie ticket.

He almost has ruined transformes...

I think Big Fish has a great story. I also think that Diablo 3 was not on par with previous Blizzard releases, both story and other game elements. I think Blizzard has shifted from a company that makes games for gamers to a company that makes games for the masses.

That problem is not at all unique in gaming.

I remember playing Dark Age of Camelot years ago and as a gamer, I enjoyed actually having to learn where things were. More experienced players would be valuable to a group because you needed somebody to help you find the next place to grind at. Exploring the world had actual meaning. Today's MMO's and DAoC in its later versions/expansions adds a damn in game map feature so everything you do is dumbed down to going to a blinking dot on the radar.

Does anyone else here GEOCACHE? The reward for finding something that is difficult to find is much greater than having it handed to you. These games get more and more mindless as they are built for the masses, its like pop music (uninspired crap for uninspiring people) and it makes us all less challenged, more A.D.D. and overall less intelligent.

[citation][nom]klavis[/nom]I agree with him but dude...he wrote some crappy screen plays based off what is mentioned in the article.[/citation]

i agree , who the hell is ANY one in holly wood to come down on game stories , holy wood hasn't turned out a really good story in years , I'm hoping that the Prometheus movie is good story wise (haven't seen it yet ) but not getting my hopes up , note this guy has nothing to with the promethus at all , and it's the first truely original idea i've seen from hollywood in years going by the previews.

but yeah this guy isn't exactly batting a good avaerage.

[citation][nom]ironmb[/nom]The guy probably makes x20 as much as you do writing "crappy screen plays". Burger flippers.[/citation]

plumbers in some cities can make up to 50 bucks an hour , but at the end of the day they are still working with crap , their pay didn't turn it into artistry.

This guy is beating a dead horse. Blizzard already admitted problems with the games storyline and game play problems.

By the way - I don't consider the Charlie's Angels movies to have great stories either...if I were to compare the storyline of Diablo 3 to CA: Full Throttle, IMO they would be in the same league.

coming from a writer whose story's were weak and well, just generally crappy, it takes one to know one.
and yes i must be one too, nobody in publishing will even look at my storys, which may or may not have anything to do with the few pictures included using stick figures.
but yes generally i agree, the diablo3 story line is boring after having played the other 2.
i enjoyed the voice talents much more than the story line however. after about 1 act of them i wished there was a way to disable them.

Not willing to spoil your experience but well... There are better movies out there.

i didnt buy diablo 3 because of the online only factor and the whole auction house. I feel bad to say this but im glad Diablo 3 isnt that great because i dont feel like im honestly missing out.
