Question Home desktop and work laptop setup

For my home, I have a desktop computer (Windows 10), connected with two monitors (1x HDMI, 1x DP) and of course a mouse, keyboard etc.
For my work, I use a work laptop. It is managed by my employer so I can't install any drivers etc. on it.

At this moment, when I work from home, I connect one of the monitors to the laptop (HDMI) and plug in another keyboard and mouse. This way I can still use my desktop for other purposes in the meantime. However, it takes up quite a lot of space: 2x mouse, 2 keyboard and is a bit inconvenient. I looked into KVM switches and Plugable Sharing switches. I think it comes close to what I want, but it just misses the spot.

What I want: only use 1 mouse and 1 keyboard for both the laptop+monitor ánd the desktop that is connected to the other monitor, without the need to plug out and plug in something every single time.
I'd like your advice in making this possible. Thanks in advance.

As above but I would use and suggest a lower tech option:

Manually plug and unplug.

How often is "every single time"?

You can make plugging and unplugging easier by using the applicable extension cables to connect devices and then placing that interim connection point in an easily accessible location with no need to crawl under the desk, etc..

Avoids the need for additional switches, KVM or Reverse KVM's, and the connecting cables.

You may need to obtain an extension cable of some sort but that is still much simpler overall.

And you are likely to be more aware of the connectivity at any given time having done some deliberate plug/unplug action.

"Automation" is nice - simplicity may be nicer.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Logitech MX are fine, but keep in mind that you can also have 3 monitors each rig around and have a way to copy-paste between them that suits you, and that a keen laptop mount may be worth more convenience than, e.g. having an awesome mouse but losing its features because the KVM kills the responsiveness. https://highseclabs.com/solutions/c...e Copy & Paste feature,“copy” from one source. Easy shipping from Israel...er, Alabama!

Also waaaay too many options when I search for 'RasPI hats for kvm' rolling $50-128 and up. Beats installing a work guest VM (aaaand paste the videos...) on your home machine?
