Ive been in I.T. a long time. I remember the benefits of a 64 bit system over a 32 in a networked environment on multi use machines. By multi use i mean, user having multiple applications simulteaneously, but honestly, only using one at a time.

Yes and a 64 bit has more security and instructions and supports more Ram, but HONESTLY...

Every 64 Ive had, doesnt seem to manage multiple applications well, game LAUNCH ,multi gig file xfer ssd to ssd, while windows update is downloading 340 mb of updates on an i5-4440 12 GB DDR3 1600 .
So i am asking... I need a reliable system that can do one or two things at a time simultaneously, without choking. These aren't difficult task i am asking. Hell os/2 warp could handle this, why cant my 4th gen i5 12 gb ram, samsung SSD ?

you cpu and ram are ok, check if you got some malware on the pc, check the task manager for CPU Memory and Disk if they are at 100% and see what uses it. coping files like you said multi gig file even from SSD to SSD can use Whole of its bandwidth , making the rest of the system slow, for best perfomance of OS leave one drive just for OS... because if you copy from SSD where is OS and it goes up to 100% it will slow down everything on your PC.
