Hooked up a 4k monitor to my screen and Windows 10 gets pixelated

I just got a new monitor for my computer. The HP ZR2740w. I hooked it up with a DVI cable and started Windows. But now everything is pixelated, if i turn the resolution to
2560 x 1440 the text on Windows becomes so pixelated i can barely read it. I really have no idea what to do and why this happens.

I used to have a 1920 x 1080 monitor and it worked well. But having 4k would be really smooth.
I have a GTX 960 4GB video card and all my drivers are up to date.

Put the 4k monitor at 4k not a 1440p that should solve it.
