I'm a big of the original Doom, but Doom 3 suck-didly-ucked Flanders.

Dark creepy corridors with monsters that jumped out and yelled "Booga-Booga" constantly don't make a great game. Especially when my character is apparently too handicapped to hold a gun and a flashlight at the same time.

Whenever I want to play Doom 3 I turn off my monitor and voila Doom 3!

On a more serious note I am actually happy to see that its not a reboot and is going to be separate from Doom 3 entirely. I think that is what Doom needs to do. Something that bothered me in Doom 3 was the complete lack of NPC's during the actual gameplay, I get most would be dead but the game felt so damn lonely. Even the first Doom game had humans that went insane (according to the manual) even though they shoot at you at-least they are there. Now I am just nitpicking but the first enemy you encounter in Doom 3 was a NPC who gets possessed by what appears to be a evil spirit changing him... it never did explain why the player was immune to such a seemingly unstoppable attack.

[citation][nom]jay2tall[/nom]Big question... Will it be DX10 or DX11? Or just another console port on old and moldy DX9.[/citation]

I really don't see anymore DX10 titles coming out. So this means either 9 or 11. At this point I think what we PC gamers should come to expect is DX9 for games that also go on consoles and DX11 for larger budget PC exclusives which of course is rare.

I want more blood and gore and shoot and move and explosive and more evil enemies in DOOM4. What's more, I want the best graphics a PC has ever handed in DOOM4.

Allot of people complained that you could not use the flashlight and a gun at the same time in Doom 3, where's the duct tape but that did add allot to make Doom 3 a extremely creepy/scary game. I just hope Doom 4 is not some kiddie console port or worse yet, a smart phone spin off.
Will wait and see I guess.

I don't ever want to play a game like doom3 again. I hope they take a completely new direction with doom 4. I want to see smoother, more real hellspawn, not the blocky ones doom 3 gave me. also, add some variation to monsters. ALL the bad guys have the same face. And I want HUGE levels, with keys to open doors damnit! go all out on this one ID, or you will have lost a fan!

Wait, when you remake something into something different, re-imagine it, isn't that just called a re-boot?

If it is as they say, completely different, its no longer Doom anymore. Might as well call it, "Captain Fred's monsters in an abandoned power station adventure".

With Doom3 they tried to make a FPS and have some elements like System Shock II had, but they missed out MAJORLY on the audio/video logs. They could have added a whole world of scary there if done right.

In SS2, there were times you dread picking up and listening to the logs, things happened that were scary. It wasn't just some guy reading "oh, and the machine tore off Jack's arm, even though it was completely unplugged." Like he's overdosed on Thorazine.

They could have had video logs, and better audio logs.

So... will DOOM4 allow the character to duct-tape a flashlight to his helmet or weapons so we can see what we are supposed to shoot at?

Love what a gamer wrote many many years ago:
Walking in a dark corridor with your flashlight.
Monster is coming at you.
You switch to gun, then shoot blindly in the dark.
Switch to flashlight to confirm dead monster, if not -
repeat shooting in the dark.

Luckily, some people with half a brain added a flashlight mod.

Hey, how about a game in which you can play these characters tryingto kill each other:
Doom3
Unreal Tournament
Halo
Max Payne
and of course
DUKE Nukem
and
Serious Sam

Who will win?

[citation][nom]mouse24[/nom]gta iv was made for the xbox + ps3 + pc... it was still a port... i dont understand yah jason[/citation]

that';s cos you are a ARt-tard dude , GTA 4 was a port becasue they just trhew the pc version together based off code and parts of the consoel game. it did NOT release on all platforms athte same time hence the term port.

Rage on the other hand , is what you call a multiplatform game , it is being designed for every paltform AT THE SAME TIME. meaning that the pc version wil most definitely be designed for the pc with the pc crowd in mind , you need to learn abit aboutt eh buisness before making coments , Rage is not and wil not be aport , but GTA 4 was becaue it's pc version was releasd well after the console version.
