Hopefully an easy answer to which resolution I should be using.

Ok so I bought a pc a few months ago and never really messed with settings for the display, other than to hook up dual monitors. That being said last night while cleaning off my desk somehow the display port came out of the back of the pc. I pushed it back in and it seems to have reset somethings.

Now I was able to put it back to what I had it on, however I never did see the options for the resolution.

I have a samsung 4k monitor I bought with the pc, which is running a gtx 1080. I see in the nvidia control panel 2. choose the resolution and says my connection, the display port, but there are resolutions I never had seen.

The top part says Ultra HD, HD, SD and has options of:

4k x 2k, 3840 x 2160
4k x 2k, 2560 x 1600
4k x 2k, 2048 x 1536
1080p, 1920 x 1080
1080p, 1768 x 992

Then under a line it has PC:
3840 x 2160 (native) and this is what I have selected and said recommended.

When I selected the HD option of the first 4k mentioned above, the screen was so small I couldnt see it and really messed with my other monitor. Also the refresh rate goes to 30, will not go to 60 as it does with the other PC option. Not sure if that matters.

So basically my question ism sorry for this being so long, am I on the right setting for playing games/movies and utilizing the gpu and 4k monitor correctly?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

EDIT: This is the exact monitor I got, if it makes a difference

well, something is wrong with the displayport. If it even gets blown on it cuts out. Not sure why but feels loose. Anyway, went out and got an HDMI high speed cable and settings have changed.

I can get only 30 hz now on the top choice for 4k and have to go to 1080p for 60hz?
