We all know what a plethora of AMD vs Intel polls can be found throughout out this forum. An outrageous amount. And none of them really teach anyone anything. But in this thread, that is all about to be changed. Below you will find benchmarks, statistics, and comparisons between the two processor companies sourced from throughout the internet, this forum, and a few others. If you would like to get your own word in this thread, I will post a link to a Google Form that you can fill out with your personal thoughts and advice, which will all be compiled into a public spreadsheet for all to view. (Note - this spreadsheet can only grow with the help of the forum community, so it will, like everything else, be small and empty in the beginning. You can change that.)

First, the popularity of both processors based on the market. According to this, Intel’s market share is dominating over AMD, and is continuing oin to increase while AMD declines.

And here’s another with the stock value history of AMD and Intel(INTC), with AMD’s stocks being much more unstable.

Now that we have the market’s opinion of which processor is more popular, we can proceed onto actual statistics.

In terms of power consumption, AMD requires much more to run. This may or not affect you, but can make a difference in electricity builds and CPU temperature. I thank Tom’s Hardware for this chart.

Passmark’s scores: (Higher is better)

When utilizing more than one core, Intel seems to be more efficient and powerful.

The same is true for Cinebench’s single-threaded benchmarks.

Here is a slightly biased chart made by AMD, though, that shows how some of it’s APU processors (GPU and CPU combined) actually outperform Intel in 3DMark scores. Even though the company who created the chart is showing it’s own products to be superior, there may just be something to this whole “APU” thing.

Here’s another:

Finally, we get to value. Although Intel had the upper-hand on AMD in most f the previous benchmarks, price is one thing in which AMD always wins. The chart is pretty self-expanatory. You want to be the closest to the bottom right corner at the lowest price possible.

And here we are, at the end of all our statistics. If you would like to voice your own opinion for public view in a spreadsheet, I will post the links to that form and the public spreadsheet below.
