Hi,

For some reason, whilst in game, watching videos or even just on the desktop i get these flickering lines, sometimes covering half of the screen, or sometimes it just sends my whole screen black, this happens especially in games, is there anything i can do to stop this?

Just some notes:

Monitor refresh rate set to maximum (75Hz)
Vertical Sync is enabled in CCC And in all games
This may not be relevant, but the screen tearing only seems to occur with shades of blue, an example would be, i could be in a game like rust, just exploring, and then when i look into the blue sky the whole screen goes crazy.
Temps are all fine, CPU and GPU are around 30 and 40 usually

PSU: XFX Pro 550w
CPU: FX 6300 (No OC)
GPU: R9 290x (No OC)

Drivers are updated.

Any ideas?

Sounds like some form of hardware failure. Does the program itself crash? If so, it's most likely in the computer itself, like the GPU. Otherwise, it could also be the monitor. If you can, I'd first check if changing the display solves the problem. If not, try seeing if you can test another GPU in the same machine (use a spare if you have one, or maybe ask a friend to borrow theirs if possible).

The program never crashes, just certain things are unplayable due to the lines and sometimes, it appears that half the image on screen stays the same for 5 seconds while the other half of the screen is up to date, the monitor i have is quite old (Almost 6 years) and isnt very good and ive always thought it was that, i might try a new cable first, then buy a new monitor (Because i need one anyway) and if all else fails ill try the gpu, its still in warranty so i think i could return it, since its never been OC'ed or anything like that.

If there's no crash, it does sound very likely that this is a monitor issue. It is possible the cable is the problem, but specially if it is a digital signal (DVI, HDMI, Displayport) this is unlikely unless the cable is very noticeably damaged. Hopefully you can get this sorted out, though.

It's an LG Flatron L1742SE

Not a very big screen, but just enough for what i use atm (College work, occasional gaming when i get time) I was never told and it never said what refresh rate it supported, i guessed 75Hz was supported.

I assumed it was one of the older 4:3 LCD's when it was said the monitor is 6 years old. Those usually did 75Hz to match the CRT's of the time. I don't think any overclocking would be needed for that refresh rate in this case.
