So a friend of mine got his hands on a few 2tb hot swap sata drives(he got a hot swap bay) but as he had an extra he gave it to me.
now i dont have a hot swap bay in my pc and the hdd has the hot swap connector, so my question is:

can i use it just by plugging it into sata cable and power cable and nothing plugged into the hot swap pins? or does it has to be used in a how sawp bay?

Hot plug is a feature in BIOS.
If hot plug is enabled, then drive is presented to OS as removable and you can connect/disconnect it without shutting down your pc.

TLDR - it's your system that has this feature. Not the drive itself.
It's a normal drive (either SATA or SAS).
