Hotmail works fine. I've used it for almost a decade, and aside from a few headache-inducing problems over the years, it's worked great for me. Gmail is another story: inconsistent interface, crashes, hack attacks, and viruses were the constant norm for Gmail users up until they pulled it out of beta status last year (and how long was it in beta status? Maybe some of you Gmail fanboiz could tell me). Not to mention the huge privacy concerns. Seriously, I'm amazed at how many of you guys are defending Gmail as a reliable email program.

Please. Hotmail is fine.

I've been getting spammed to death by Hotmail & Live user accounts for several weeks now. I'd say MS Hotmail and Live have been hacked for some time now and MS is only just starting to get a handle on it. It's sad that it takes a major screw-up by the hackers which corrupts the function of the site, before MS gets a clue. They probably don't yet know the full extent of the problem and probably won't reveal it to the public unless dragged kicking and screaming.

It all depends on who you give your e-mail to, if you are subscribed to ANYTHING on the net there is a 99.9% chance that they are distributing your e-mail even if the fine-print says otherwise. I just opened a new gmail acct about a month ago, i have 2 messages in my inbox, both from newegg. I also have a 3 year gmail inbox that has about 10% spam, but that is my fault 😉 . I left hotmail years ago due to the spam, I guess it works for some and it doesn't for others :)
