I'm confused by how a server setup works. I bidded for a server Blade but I began realizing that it was waaaay to cheap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/332018616289?_trksid=p2060353.m1431.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It said that there was 32gb of ram and such but do I need a server chasis? Or does it run by its own? Can I at least use the motherboard and processor? I'm confused by how that works

Normally, that thing would go in a big server rack. It does not have to though.
However...
1. What exact CPU is in there?
2. The motherboard is non ATX, so it won't work in a regular case.
3. That thing will be LOUD. It would need to go live in its own room.
What do you plan on using it for?
It might be good for a learning device, but don't plan on actually using it.

A server is basically just a normal computer, but the cpu used in it is server class, most common servers used have an Intel Xeon cpu that does all the horse work, depending on how old the server is the cpu can contain up to 20 cores per cpu,
And also the motherboard that is used can have two cpu sockets on it for example for two Xeon cpu`s to run in tandem each with 20 cpu cores per cpu.
The reason why it has so many cpu cores is so it can multitask and deal with for example 40 client machines connected to the server, where the server will contain all of the programs that a business may use depending on the type of business.
For example 5 clients connecting to the router may want to load windows office up to do a word document or excel document. Each processor of the server may be dedicated to that client or the machine as, or on a created network.
Each user will have access to all the software contained on the server, or the administrator of the server can restrict a set of people for example to be able to use a bit of software but not the other client machines or people using them via a user name or login password.
Each user or client can be configured on what type of programs they have access to based on there user name and password on login into there personal account via a client machine.
Often when a network is created with a central server, the client machines or other terminals/ user computers used by the workers if the company. Do not contain any form of storage medium like a hard drive fitted to the client machine.
All software including the operating system is loaded via a network connection. using each of the Ethernet wired connection of each client machine Zombi.
And all other software that needs to be used is also stored on the server and sent to the client machine when the shortcut of Icon for the program is clicked on in windows Os when loaded from the system or each client is set to boot off the Lan or Ethernet port of the client machine.
Basicaly you have full control of what users of the network can do, that also includes what they can do with files.
Such as if they have permission to delete files, save them or as said run programs.
When it comes to the Graphics side of things the server will contain a graphics card where it is hooked up to a monitor close to the Server blade so the Admin of the network can setup user accounts and rights.
But it is not used with the client machines on the rest of the network.
Each of the client systems, or terminals users use. will each have there own graphics cards fitted and connected to monitors.
In the case of a normal network setup using a server.
But servers can also be fitted with banks of graphics cards in SLI configuration for such work as computing cad programs and models or any type of rendering or animation studio setup.

Where the data created of each user being it creating word or excel documents to rendered animation sequences by a user is also saved on the server.
Blade servers can be linked together. where each machine can be added to perform faster and deal with a larger client base or users using the network.
And Just like programs, you can set them up to run dedicated game servers, for up to 40 clients connecting and playing the game via the server and its hardware without much impact on network or computing speed.
As long as it has the Xeon cpu, enough memory that you can fit
128Gb or 256Gb. and enough hard drive storage space if required.
Plus a graphics card hooked to any monitor so you can see it to configure software install on the server for clients to use.
It all comes down to the amount of users that you intend to connect to the server for what you intend to use it for.

It's basically a PC.
However...
1. It has a 146GB drive. What other drives can you attach to it? What is the drive interface? Probably SCSI, and not SATA.
2. Don't plan on using this for a 'game PC'. Any included video is good for server maintenance. And you can't fit a regular GPU in there.
3. The current bid is $4. There are 3.5 days left. The final bid will be much more.
4. As said before, these things are LOUD.
I recommend you let someone else win this auction.
Do a lot more investigation as to what these actually are, before you end up with some hardware that does not do what you want.
