I am building a brand new PC (my first build) and just finished. I started my computer and got a no signal error on my monitor. I rechecked all the connections put my GPU (a msi GTX 770) and RAM back in and still no luck. I then read the manual for the GPU and found out I need to install drivers for it to work, however I can't do that as my motherboard doesn't even boot up since it senses no GPU. I also can't connect my monitor straight to my motherboard as I have no integrated graphics. Now I have no idea what to do and am quite depressed.
These are my specs:

M547 LE R2.0 motherboard

fx-6300 6 core processor (AMD)

msi GTX 770 twin frozr 2GB

4GB of RAM I got from staples just picked the first 4GB I saw with ddr3

And also my keyboard will not turn on and I have no audio. Maybe this is because my mobo won't boot? As I cannot hear any post beeps.

Pulling the power cord on what and does the batter look like those really expensive and small circular batteries?

The plug connecting the power supply to the wall, Then hold down the power button on the PC for a minute. And yeah it looks like those but a little bigger. Try it if the first thing doesnt work

Well I know taking out the batter resets the BIOS and does the pulling out the power thing do something similar?

yeah, maybe some setting is keeping the PC from fully booting, which is why your keyboard isn't working either

Edit: Oh yeah, Diamond brings up a good point. You might need to geet your hands on a AM3 socket CPU in order to update the bios to support the 6300. Had to do it with my board as well when i upgraded from a phenom to FX

There could be a number of things because I can't tell how well you've done the component install, all wires connected properly etc.

Firstly if all components GPU, CPU, PSU fan are active that's a good start.

Secondly does your mobo come with a Bios version that's up to date to support your CPU? if not you would need to do a Bios update.

However first things first, can you not even get to the Bios page?

I've been in your situation and had the same thing, I was lucky because I had an old APU for the same socket, I was then able to update the Bios and then my new CPU / GPU worked, before that all I had was a blank screen until I put the old APU in.

How do I take out the battery exactly?

Why the hell should he do a CMOS reset??

Wow, I hate when people get unnecessary advice because these things can end your mobo and really create problems.

Its also time consuming, he probably has an out of date Bios or something.

Once when I had this I had to just switch everything (PC & TV) on and off again a few times and the third time it just married up to the GPU.

A CMOS reset is unnecessary unless he's accidently wiped the bios ......... which he hasn't.

Do you think I could ask my local computer store for one, just as a quick use and then return it? I got a CD with my motherboard are those the updates?

yeah now i'm thinking bios update is all that is required, he probably doesn't have an old am3 lying around though

nah, those are just drivers and software for stuff on the board
Its worth a shot to ask

If you can get your hands on an old AM3 APU that would be golden ...... I say old because an early one would fall in your Mobo's Bios version.

TBF I can check this for you right now.

Give me 5mins and I'll tell you if your Mobo is out of date.

Thanks! although my motherboard is fairly new.

Can you see your Mobo?

Get it under a light and tell me what the version the Bios is.

You'll find this by looking at the writing on the Mobo e.g

Asus M547 Le R2.0
Bios ver 0208

Find that and type out the Bios version number .... exactly as its printed please, and be quick bud its bed time. 😉

Well unfortunately I can't find it on my mobo but in my manual it says my mobo supports FX CPUs upto 8 cores

Look at your Mobo underneath the big writing saying

Asus
M5A97 LE R2.0
Rev ......

The Rev writing is very small and should be just under the M5A97 LE R2.0 writing ....... its there mate.

Its called Rev and it'll have a number next to it.

Yea I see it rev 1.00

Unlucky bud as I suspected your Bios Rev is out of date.

It needs to be .......

Rev 1006 to boot a FX-6300

Look for yourself

http://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/#support

Go get the cheapest (Sempron) CPU you can find, I mean dirt cheap either 2nd hand or if a PC store has an old AM3 CPU around that he'll allow you to take back ...... up to you how you do it.

But you need to pick a CPU that's in that list as a ..... Rev 0208

That will be ready to go without a Bios update.

When you have it and are ready to do the Bios update PM me and I'll walk you through an AMD Bios update if you need, because if you fk it up you'll ruin your Mobo.

You need this page for the Bios update ....

Those links are bouncing to FAQ so just click the link then "CPU Support" tab and its all under there.

That's the list of CPU's for your board.

The ones saying "Since Bios" 0208 are the ones that your Mobo will accept without a Bios update, you need to do a Bios update for your FX 6300.
