I have the following build

vCAQf46.png

Except for the new EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SSC all other components are old.I'm experiencing lags during system start up...Just want a smoother computing experience.Whats is the least cost (hardware upgrade) way by which i can improve my system performance .

Please advice :)

Solution
It's lagging from the 6+ year old architecture. Also jumping from 1st gen (your CPU) to 2nd gen was a big change and improvement. And even the 2nd gen is getting old.

To gain in improvement, you got to upgrade your cpu/mobo/ram as mentioned. You could sell off your old computer and buy everything new except HDDs and GPU. I recently sold my 5yr old computer for decent price and it reduced price of my new computer.

lags are from HDD IMHO. Grab some 120 G SATA SSD, and install windows there. Should give you nice boost you need.
Second thing is first gen I5. Temps are quite high and i5 was never speed demon.
Check if you will not get a nice deal on some 4'th gen CPU/MOBO. Used i5-4690k around me is 200$ with MOBO.

Thanks for all your replies ..

what SSD,Mobo,Processor do you suggest? I only do occasional gaming ie: i dont need extreme processing capabilities ... But i need the machine to peform well during gaming and multi tasking(coding and stuff) :)

Please advice

My cooler master case is fine and it has a seasonic power supply to meet any power requirements .. replacing the mobo, processor, ram would be the way to go i think...

How much possible gain can i expect from the upgrade?

Pretty big upgrade. You'll notice gains quickly. The i5-750 is bottlenecking your GPU. By getting a newer architecture you'll notice the gains immediately. To take your new cpu/mobo/ram setup to next level drop in a SSD. You can get many good 250gb SSDs for around $90. It's extremely worth it.

Expect gaming to be smooth and satisfy your desires.

for ssd anything from here will be great:

for CPU/MOBO/RAM

I have 3 options for you:
low $:
go for 4th gen used. Not best, slightly old, but for ~200$ you can find i7 - 4790 (sometimes K) and mobo bundled.
you won't have to replace ram so its additional cash saved.
value $
go for 7'th gen Pentium 4520/4600. they can handle the 1060 (almost bottle-necking but still not), but will not give you upgrade path. you will need to replace CPU in a 2-year or so.
other parts from here:
https://pcpartpicker.com/b/KnsJ7P
Value+ $ + time:
3'rd option wait for 8'th gen. Collect cash for good i5, SHOULD be here around January ? You would need to keep an eye on it.
looks like they will add solid kick of power to all tiers. going for i3 will give you 7'th gen i5.
This CPU will get you solid performance and will make sure you're ok for next ~3 years.
Core i5 8400 6 6 2.8GHz 3.8GHz 9MB LGA 1151 65W

Thanks for your answers.I don't intent to buy used Hardware.
I'm also not looking for High End Boards/CPU.

Pleas suggest me some bang for the buck Mobo(DDR4) + CPU Pair .CPU/Mobo without inbuilt graphics will be fine.

Is AMD Ryzen good? Hearing good words about it.

Depends on your budget. Ryzen is good, but some issues if you don't mind as it is a new platform.

Ryzen is storming the market with mostly bang for value :)
Right now, I would go for Ryzen 1600 or 1700
1600 would be good for next 3 years and
https://pcpartpicker.com/b/v8QZxr
seems fine. 1500 $ is what to expect with this
https://pcpartpicker.com/b/HfdXsY

if you do more CPU work 1700 is killer.
if you want to go for ~800$ have a look on this:
https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/79QzK8/modest-gaming-build
perfect for most semi-power users.

I will go with Ryzen 1500X as it fits my Budget... Are there any better intel alternatives in the same price range.
Hmmm what about the gaming and multitasking performance coupled with GTX 1060 ?

Please also suggest me a cheap Mobo with DDR4 Support

I'd grab the Ryzen 5 1600 instead as it is a 6core instead of a 4core (1500x). The 1600 is the new performance value killer. It's a 5yr investment. So I'd spend a little more.

gtx 1060 is great. Just take 6 GB version.

MBO anything from this list:

I already have the 6GB EVGA 1060 Edition.

Will try.... which is the cheapest board with DDR4 Support that supports Ryzen.
