Im new to this. But thinking to the future would like to add another 6950 to the mix. So what sort of issues can I expect and how bad will the MS be in most games?

Solution

lol. The micro stutter was ages ago and with some games. Especially if they don't load enough data in the ram. Some games you can edit the ini files to configure that. But that's not really a issue these days. But having a ssd won't be a bad choice but if its not in your budget then you don't have to worry about it. You can always do a cheap raid with your current disk setup
The thing is, when you run with it off, you can tell the difference (when it's not tearing). A product of vsync is a decrease in video responsiveness. The flickering you see is probably not really micro stuttering, but due to bad drivers. AMD cleared this up in NBA2K11 while I was still running a crossfire setup. This was great, but I was always waiting for next month's drivers to fix everything else. They had yet to fix it with BFBC2 (after 10 months/driver releases) and MOH (after 4 months/driver releases) and that just ticked me off:

A good definition of micro stuttering (notice it doesn't say anything about a monitor):

I do like my AMD single-card setups, but for multi-card setups, this is why I now roll with SLI.

^^thanks that is a good definition, and just ignore the pm then but man.... I am seriously considering selling my 6870s and getting a single 6970 or gtx 580 what do you think? does a 7200 rpm HDD or only having 4 gigs of ram ddr3 1600 cause this sort of thing or is that not the issue? I feel like some info is not being fed to the gpus fast enough... any thoughts uber? I am also running a 955 @ 4 gigs so I think the CPU should be good, im just looking for higher minimum fps which the crossfire 6870s seem to be lacking no matter what drivers I am using, what would you or anyone do i this situation? Good lord I just want to play some freaking games with maxed out details at 1080p is that too much to ask...
