Hi. I have a i7 6700k that i Overclocked to 4.7GHz. I am new to overclocking and wants to change my General Frequensy from 3000MHz to at least 4000MHz which is the default. I have a Asus Z170 -A motherboard.

If you want the extra 1Ghz on your overclock you do not do it through base clock - you do it through your multiplier. When you change the base clock it effects EVERYTHING tied to the CPU - Northbridge, RAM, SATA devices and so on. You can damage/destroy them this way.

You really should not touch it on your setup.
