[SOLVED] How can I increase the length of the names of icons?

Hello!
I have certain icons on my desktop with long names, but Windows only shows me a part of their name.

Is there a way to increase the visible length of the icons’ names so I can see their entire name?

I knew how to do that in Windows XP, but Win.10 is different.

Registry editing can be used for such things. However, registry editing is risky and an error can cause severe consequences. Registry editing should be a last resort.

Either directly or with a third party tool (not recommended).

Another consideration is that some future Windows update may undo the registry changes.

Be very sure that your system is fully backed up and recoverable before using the Registry Editor.

Overall, my recommendation is to come up with some icon naming scheme that allows you to easily recognize any given file based on just the displayed portion of the file name.

Much simpler and easily managed.

And do remember that a left mouse click on an icon will force display of the full icon name.

if you hover your mouse over the shortcut, it shows the whole name... lol

having it any other way could lead to unusable desktops

windows 8/10 has disabled icon spacing through desktop
only way to change it is from windows registry

or from 3rd party app

Thank you!
I knew that there must be some registry hack to do it! 😄
