Hey guys I tried everything to recover my original Windows login creating local account and also including registry editing but nothing works. This is the 2nd time I have had this problem with this machine and tired of it.

So I want to do a complete wipe then reinstall Windows 10 but this time, is there anything at all I can do which will prevent this Windows account problem please?

Entirely unsure what the problem is.

Do the wipe and reinstall.
Apply your valid MS account login.
Where, specifically, does it fail?

I cannot be certain without searching, but so far as I am aware both 10 and 11 are now requiring a Microsoft account to tie to. I stand to be corrected as I haven't tried 10 in a minute and am aware that the "disconnect the internet cable" workaround in 11 (official) is gone. Original local account simply may not be a workable option any longer.

2nd time?
Either you're doing something wrong or your hardware is faulty.

List full hardware specs.
What did you do, to cause the problem?
Suspect OS drive. Diagnose it.
Not seeing I did anything wrong, I have had this old HP Elite 8200 USFF desktop for many years and did not have this problem until some months ago. One day I turned on the pc as per normal and the account login problem read "We can't sign into your account" and also "You've been signed in with a temporary profile" was there.

I had posted here for help and creating the local account as per the instructions given had worked that time.

But this 2nd time that plus all the other methods did not work. However this time I had seen a 'hard drive error' message at startup during POST. I manually shut down and restarted and it loaded the desktop. So yes, I have to suspect the drive now as you've said.

So when you say 'diagnose' it, what specifically should I do please to maybe repair the drive?

OR, tell me this guys, I've had a new Glyph 500gb external drive stored away for years now, it's supposed to be better quality drive so should I use that to load and run the win10 on?

Well - here you go. 12 pending sectors.
If your profile registry section is using any of those pending sectors, it becomes corrupted and unusable.

Short term solution - create a new user profile.

Ultimately you should upgrade your HDD to SSD.
Crucial MX500 500GB 2.5" SATA
(a good option, if you can find one).

Thanks. I had created a new user profile but all of the settings I had for my very complicated music system setup is lost. I will reinstall now temporarily until I should get a new SSD.

But there were 2 methods mentioned in this thread to prevent this from happening again. When reinstalling use my microsoft account login and another option to skip that and use local account and create a restore point. Which of those 2 options would be best for future prevention please?
