im planning to use my old pATA hard disk as my slave while my SATA disk as my master disk is it possible to use both disk together or how will i know if my MoBo will even support a pATA disk..

Solution

Good heavens, it has a floppy port!
* 1 x floppy connector
* 1 x IDE connector , 2 x IDE devices could be connected, support ATA 66/100/133
* 2 x SATA II 3Gb/s connectors (Support RAID 0, 1)
So you can connect up to two IDE drives and up to two SATA drives. The easiest way to find out if both will work at the same time is to plug it in and turn on the power (just be sure that it boots from the correct device; sometimes plugging in a new drive...

there is 1 IDE connector in my MoBo. But can I use my SATA and pATA disk together? SATA being the master disk and the pATA as the slave? is it possible?

No. PATA had two drives on one connector, with one as the master and one as the slave.
SATA has one drive per connector.
If your motherboard has both IDE and SATA connectors, forget the master / slave relationship. Just connect the SATA drive to an SATA port, and the IDE drive, configured as master, to the IDE port. If you tell us your motherboard model, we can be more specific.

By the way: If this does not work, will the Asparagus be steamed? :na:

my MoBo is EMX MCP61D3-iCafe. And I think it has both IDE connector and SATA connector, so how would it work together or could I have both working well and not affecting my whole rig? The thing is I just want to know if I could still have some use with my pATA disk.

Do you know how to do that?).

The next-easiest is to find the manual and download it; do you have a copy. Unless the manual specifically states to use either IDE or SATA, I can't imagine that it wouldn't work. Manual here: http://www.emaxxtech.com/products.php?id=29

Look at page 18 for the BIOS screen that shows drives. Attach your new drive, boot to BIOS, look here, and see both drives. Ta-Da.

There is no Master / Slave relationship. On the other hand, if by using the new drive as Master you meant to boot from it, you will probably have to do a complete OS install on that drive after temporarily disconnecting the IDE drive. If you install an OS on the SATA drive while the bootable IDE drive is still attached to the motherboard, the boot sector will go on the IDE drive.
