How can I make my Laptop Run better when playing games

Hey guys Im new to the site but just wondering how can I make my Computer run better when playing video games on my Laptop

I have Gateway AMD Quad-Core Processor A8-4500M
AMD Radeon HD 7640G with 512 MB Graphics System Memory
6 GB of DDR3 Memory
750GB Hard Drive

The model number for my Gateway is a NV52L23U

And the real problem is that games tend to lag on me a lot and I have to lower settings down all the way to low specs and I still get bits of lag.

Buy a better laptop. You cant upgrade pieces in a laptop like you can a desktop. Sure there are some you put in vid cards and stuff, but not low end laptops.

I would suggest never buying a laptop and instead investing those funds into a desktop. Youll get twice the performance (just a guess, I have no idea how much of a difference there is, but it is significant), for the same money.

Agreed,get better laptop. Well you can try some programs like games booster or just disable all programs you don't use that might help a bit but don't expect much.

While better than most onboard graphics, this is not exactly a 'gaming laptop' and some games (especially those that are CPU dependent) are simply not going to run all that great.

There are a few things to try... but probably will only gain you minor improvements:
1) remove all of the crap software that came with your laptop. Anything that was a free trial, any toolbars, any gateway-specific utilities, etc. should all be uninstalled and/or removed. Doing a clean OS re-install would be nice if possible, but I am assuming it is not an option.
2) Make sure your good software is all up to date. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your hardware from the component manufacturer instead of what is listed on gateway's website (especially for graphics). Make sure Windows is up to date, and that you are running a quality lightweight antivirus like Malwarebytes or MSE/Defender.
3) Clean up your registry. I like using the registry cleaner in CCleaner and have found that it can bring some nice little performance boosts to computers that have had a lot of software installed and removed over time.
4) Turn off programs that you don't need to load upon startup. Right click on the task bar, Start Task Manager, go to the startup tab, and uncheck anythign that is not OS, antivirus, or hardware related.

Still, even with all of that, your laptop is not made for gaming. Looking at review sites few games are considered playable on low settings, and most games on medium settings are going to run at well under 30fps which gets pretty choppy. Your laptop should be fine for simple flash games, and multimedia... but if you want gaming power in a laptop you simply have to pay through the nose for it.

Agreed, get a smartphone, or a dirt cheap laptop for your portable needs, and then get a desktop for gaming. You can build a solid basic gaming desktop for ~$500, where you need to spend at least $1200 on a laptop for similar performance in games. $1200 in a desktop on the other hand gets you a very respectable rig capable of playing most games on high settings these days.

Do a little more homework on what you are buying next time. 2 minutes of searching google would have told you what you were getting for game performance.

Also, avoid Gateway... their products are not significantly cheaper than the competition, but their build quality and support are pretty awful.

try this steps> 1. go tu run and type %temp% select all and delete it. 2) go to run again and type prefetch select all and delete. hope that works
