My computer is an hp pavilion p7 1240

specs :

AMD A-10 5700 APU
10 GB RAM DDR3
AMD RADEON 7660D 512MB DDR3
MSI-7778 (JASMINE)
1 TB HDD 7200 SATA
300W PSU

I really want to be able to play a bf3 at 1280x720 ultra 30 fps+ but i can leave out the AA and SSAO.

same here with crysis games 1280x720 but at least medium 30+ fps

I researched a bit on APU dual graphics and the recommended GPU is the radeon 6670. I realize that i need a larger psu so will you guys help me find a 400w psu that is god but under 50$?

and another question about my RAM.

I dont know if i have a dual channel mobo but i have two 4gbs and one 2 gb in there , should i remove the one 2gb card, if so how much wattage will i hav eleft at reserve? Im guessing with everything on my computer i have about 250 to maybe 280w of power usage..

You want to play at ultra? You're going to need a better GPU then the dual graphics 6670 even at 720p. I recommend getting a 7850 or GTX 650 Ti Boost for that task. You will need a better PSU. This one should do fine: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx430m
I hope that this helps. As for Ram and the iGPU, get the fastest Ram you can in dual channel configuration. Use two sticks of ram. Generally this should be 1866 ram. This is not relevant if you are not using the iGPU or are not using dual graphics. I hope this helps!

Wait for the Kaveri APU's which you can immediately upgrade without changing motherboard i think.
Your 5700 can switch to the new 6800k if your impatient or wait for the 7800k which most likely would come out at the end of the year.

Kaveri APUs require FM2+ MBs. The OP only has FM2. The 6800k is a useless upgrade, as proprietary, OEM boards do not OC. It also increases performance by about 5-10%. That is not worth $130 or more.

wouldnt my cpu bottleneck the gpu though?

Your CPU won't bottleneck the radeon 7850 or the GTX 650 Ti Boost significantly.

I do not recommend the APU's when you can get a Athlon II x4 750K + a good GPU for just a little extra price.

So just tell us your complete budget and we might pick something for you.

APU's are highly not recommended by me. Not is the Dual Graphics solution from AMD, they never work as advertized.

That is the OPs current PC. He is upgrading, not making a new build.

my budget is 150-170$

I recommend the HD 7850. It is under your budget, but it is all you need for what you do. Hope this helps.

Well.. for just 5 dollars over your upgrade budget you can get this card, this is the least we recommend for enthusiast level gaming. This card is a beast. If you can get it then definitely get it.

This would give you the best performance for that upgrade budget and the performance would be good indeed.

Yupp, I agree that there would be a little bottleneck but the even after that slight bottleneck it would perform better than the 7850.

its out of my budget though, to get a new PSU.....

Then with the 300W PSU you should just stick with the 7750 as anything above that can create problem. So you have two options :

1. Upgrade your PSU and get a better card
2. Stick to the 7750, you cannot go higher with that PSU.

Just get the Radeon HD 7750. It's a huge improvement over the Radeon HD 7660D which is almost as fast as a Radeon HD 5570 graphics card. The Radeon HD 7750 is basically equal to a Radeon HD 5770.

so my 300watts can hold about 5 usb devices(keyboard, mouse, headset, webcam, printer), 2 speakers, the amd a-10 which has 65w tdp,the 7750 gpu which has a 55w tdp, the mother board,a 1tb SATA hdd, and 2 4gb ram cards, im planning on removing the 1 2gb ram card to conserve power, and as well to make motherboard run in dual channel.

To answer all your questions, a 300W PSU is enough to run your system, the 1Gb GDDR5 is immensely superior and dual graphics only works with HD 6xxx series, not 7xxx, so no. hope this helps

I said 300W was enough there as well

Yes, disable the iGPU. There's no need to remove any ram from your computer, it should be really fine! That said, I'd get a new PSU anyways in the future. Not because of wattage, but because of the terrible quality in OEM PCs. Your PC will use well less then 300W. I wouldn't worry about it.

alright, well i have some more stupid questions.... How would i go about disabling the iGPU(i think that means integrated gpu) and what would happen if i left that on aswell as the 7750?, and i would like to remove the 2gb ram so my mobo can run dual channel. And just how effective is the radeon 7750, i get around 30 fps on medium-low settings bf3 at 1280x720, how much more performance should i be expecting? i am also looking forward to the new call of duty game i could run the older ones at med-high settings 50 fps.
