I'm trying to overclock my i5-6600K, and all the stress tests say it's running nice and cool with voltage to spare, so I thought I'd download Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to try it out. Problem is, it won't let me increase the core speeds past their defaults. My range is set between 0 ghz and 3.6 ghz. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help.

Solution

You have to do overclocking in the BIOS, just google how to do it with your motherboard it's pretty simple just don't bring up the voltage too high more voltage equals more heat. You just have to change the clock speed for example 36 is 3.6 ghz 37 is 3.7 ghz and so on.
